The World Famous BOB worked the issue into her entertaining pre-show, rewarding people with candies from her cleavage for promising not to take photos and for turning off (not just silencing) mobiles... at intermission she encouraged everyone to text like mad, microblog like a maven and to purposely not talk to each other but only use mobile devices. It was hilarious, it was smart, it was an interesting experiment and was purposely integrated into the performance event (not just the show but the event of coming to see a show). This wouldn't work for every show obviously but I believe there is something to cleverly incorporating etiquette expectations into the experience of live performance.

Re: The New Website of Our Government

I found your blog on google researching internet marketing. No need to pay any attention to the old man (or the young, blonde celebrity), unless you feel like it.

But as far as congressmen Twittering, if many more of them are remotely like the belligerent and hateful @johnculberson (R, TX), well, then, maybe I can get behind tossing them off.

Kevin M. To me, the saddest part is that nearly all the icons of Broadway are over 10 years old - many much older. Very little has hit the Great White Way recently that's the least bit exciting - or has much longevity. Kinda like The Big Three automakers, it's not surprising that continuing to produce the same ol' stuff (big casts, $150 tix, based-on-a-true-hollywood-animated-movie-gas-guzzling-SUV) doesn't seem to pay the bills any more.

Kevin M.
